したがって、私は、そうであると信じています。

There is no such thing as coincidence, only what we term 'hitsuzen'.
この世に偶然なんてない、あるのは必然だけ。

What it is (not sure where it's from; took this from a post I posted in 07):

Yuuko constantly, if not always, makes references to "hitsuzen" in xxxHOLiC and in TSUBASA RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE. As she quoted from the Kodansha Japanese Desk Dictionary: Second Edition, it is "a naturally foredained event, where other outcomes are impossible." It also has different results for different people. Although hitsuzen can be easily translated as "fate," fate is a destiny brought unto others no matter what they do. In contrast to this, hitsuzen is a destiny that is different for each person that encounters it.

In other words (as said by Haruka-san in xxxHOLiC volume 10):

It means that everything that happens has a meaning. But it's very rare to find someone who can keep everything in mind. There are so many events in any given day, for anybody to be able to pick out the meaning,it's very hard to think about. On the other hand, the moment you realize that something may have a meaning, the realization itself has meaning as well.
...
Many words and events have led you to this point. And because of that, you can't go back to the time when you didn't notice.

Everyone has a road that they are walking down. As one walks down this road, there will be many crossroads, merges and diverging roads. What one intends to do when such events occur will change how one will continue walking down that road. One cannot stop until one reaches the end. One can choose not stop walking down one's designated path and walk down another, provided there is another for one to walk down. As one continues walking, the path will gradually form.

Every intersection, and every person one meets, one meets for a reason. The reason might not be something that can be noticed so soon. It might be a simple reason or a more complicated one. One might only know the reason months or years later. What one does with the person they meet might be able to determine what the path may hold for the next few days of movement down it. However, one must note that for everything that they do, there will be a price to pay. The price can come in any form, any degree. There is no limit to what the price will be, and in due time, one will have to pay for it.
